A walking tour of St Petersburg
A guide named Olga picked me up at the hotel at 9.30 on my first full day. I had booked a walking tour with "Urban adventures". I was hoping to get a good idea of the places one might want to visit and advice on riding the buses or trolley buses and the Metro (Underground). The tour exceeded my expectations and she even helped me get a ticket to the Opera Pagliacci on Saturday night. It was a cool (6C) day, windy and rain showers. Because I was getting quite chilled the tour was modified to visit some of the historic Metro stations. After getting on a bus we walked past the Church of the Spilled Blood; saw the Tavriechesky palace; walked beside the summer garden; through the field of Mars; across the Troitskiy bridge; visited the Peter and Paul Fortress then onto the Metro. These photos are of the first part.
