Evensong Canterbury Cathedral

It is an important ritual for me to visit Canterbury Cathedral. This is because Canterbury was my home for the first 29 years of my life. I was even baptised there. My mother lived close by for about the last 20 years of her life. She lived to 97 and died 7 years ago. Because of her life time involvement in the Cathedral her ashes were scattered in the memorial garden.
My sister Anne and I went to evensong at 3.15 this afternoon. Fortunately the full choir (men and boys) were singing and it was a special service as about 40 Protestant and Catholic bishops were in attendance. The music included Herbert Howells Gloucester service and an anthem "Tu Es Petrus" by Palestrina clearly chosen for the Catholic Bishops and Cardinals attending an ecumenical conference.
The photos include a display for Thanksgiving Sunday which is to-morrow.
